'Solving it like a mathematician 2012' was a stall at the Big Bang East Midlands STEM Festival on 28th June 2012. Here you can get copies of the stall documents, describing each of the puzzles, and the handout.

Handout: Problem solving advice sheet and take away puzzles.

Puzzles we used:

We also had, without advice sheets, Rubik's cubes, wooden puzzles, matchstick puzzles, post-it note dodecahedra and more. Some stall visitors may have picked up a copy of a Puzzlebomb.

On the stall were: John Read, Kathryn Taylor, Peter Rowlett, Ian Peatfield and Matt Parker.

If you want to find out more about being a mathematician, you could visit the Maths Careers website or listen to the Travels in a Mathematical World Podcast to hear mathematicians speaking about their work.

You can also see the archived version of this page for the 'Solving it like a mathematician 2011'. We updated the stall for 2012 to remove a few bits that didn't work as well as they might have, add a few bits for variety and adjust the balance of puzzles for a more confined, but busier, location.
