The maths of simple two-player games

Gathering 4 Gardner Celebration of Mind Virtual Events (21/11/2023).

Abstract:
Combinatorial game theory asks how we can play games optimally. The games are simple, two-player games with no chance. Examples include Nim and Hackenbush. This talk will outline several games and discuss some theory that can be used to work out optimal strategies and even to play several games simultaneously!
