Review of project-based learning practices in university-level engineering

Faculty of STA Learning, Teaching and Assessment Conference 2019, Sheffield Hallam University (09/09/2019). With Nasser Sherkat and Edd Smith.

Abstract:
The Department of Engineering and Mathematics has made a wide-spread commitment to integrate project-based learning into the engineering curriculum. A Faculty-funded Educational Research Project in 2018/19 aimed to conduct a 'state of the art' review of current practice and evidence regarding implementation of project-based learning in university-level engineering nationally and internationally. Project-based learning has huge potential to improve the student experience and graduate outcomes. This talk will share the findings of the research, from the literature and from interviews with engineering staff at SHU engaged with project-based learning practice.
